This adorable Easter bunny pull apart bread is a quick and easy holiday appetizer using canned biscuits and Mozzarella cheese!

The idea for this bunny shaped bread came from my Christmas Tree Pull Apart Bread. It was a hit on our holiday table and I can’t wait to make this version for Easter.

BISCUITS – We’re using large canned biscuits for this recipe, but crescent rolls would work as well.
CHEESE – String cheese works great for this recipe and comes in a variety of different flavors like Colby jack, mozzarella, and cheddar which would all work well in these biscuits. You can also use a block of cheese and cut them into cubes.
DIPPING SAUCE – If you’d like, you can use our classic pizza sauce, but we went with ranch for this recipe as it mimics the look and color of a bunny tail. You could try our Buttermilk Ranch Dressing, Creamy Dill Dressing, or our Creamy Onion Dip. For a little texture in your dip, and really make it look like a fluffy bunny tail, use this Skinny French Onion Dip!
How to Make Easter Bunny Pull Apart Bread

- Heat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut cheese into 50 (0.35 ounce) pieces.
EXPERT TIP – for this bunny bread, we used a block Mozzarella cheese. We used a total of 18 ounces, with each piece weighing roughly 0.35 ounces (10 grams). - Separate dough into 16 biscuits. Cut 13 of the 16 biscuits into fourths for a total of 52 biscuit pieces. YOU WILL NOT use all the biscuits, there will be a few left over. Roll each piece into a ball.
EXPERT TIP – We used two 16 ounce cans of Pillsbury Grands biscuits.
- Push a piece of cheese into a dough ball, pinch the seams together and then roll into a ball again.
EXPERT TIP – A piece of string cheese weighs approximately 1 ounce, depending on the brand. You can use string cheese and cut a 1-ounce stick into thirds. Then cut those in half and use 2 pieces per dough ball. We suggest cutting those in half again because one-third of a cheese stick would be too long and you wouldn’t be able to form a ball. - Place biscuit balls seam side down and next to each other to form a bunny shape on the cookie sheet. Use our photo as a guide.
- Melt butter in the microwave then stir in the garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush butter mixture over the biscuit balls.
- Bake 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. You can turn the oven to broil and brown the tops for a minute or so if you like.
- Sprinkle the top of the “bunny” with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese and fill ramekin with white sauce.
Frequently Asked Questions
You could make this ahead, but it’s best enjoyed warm when the cheese is still melted and stretchy. Once it cools, it’s just not as fun!
You can use any dipping sauce or dressing that you like. We are using ranch because it looks like a white bunny tail.

- 18 ounces Mozzarella cheese
- 32 oz (2 cans) large biscuits we used Pillsbury Grands, 16 biscuits total
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 3 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan
- 1 cup ranch dressing
Before You Begin
- If you line your baking sheet with parchment, you will be able to lift the entire bunny bread off the baking sheet and onto a waiting platter or cutting board.
- One cup of dressing is probably plenty, but you can certainly put out more just in case!
- A piece of string cheese weighs approximately 1 ounce, depending on the brand. You can use string cheese and cut a 1-ounce stick into thirds. Then cut those in half and use 2 pieces per dough ball. We suggest cutting those in half again because one-third of a cheese stick would be too long and you wouldn’t be able to form a ball.
Instructions

- Cut cheese into small pieces (approximately 0.35 ounces each) to make 50 pieces.
- Separate dough into 16 biscuits. Cut 13 of the 16 biscuits into fourths for a total of 52 biscuit pieces. YOU WILL NOT use all the biscuits, there will be a few left over. Roll each piece into a ball.
- Push a piece of cheese into a dough ball, pinch the seams together and then roll into a ball again.
- Position a ramekin on the cookie sheet where the bunny tail will go.
- Place biscuit balls seam side down and next to each other to form a bunny shape, working around the ramekin, on the cookie sheet.
- Melt butter in the microwave then stir in the garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush butter mixture over the biscuit balls.
- Bake 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. You can turn the oven to broil and brown the tops for a minute or so if you like.
- Sprinkle the top of the “bunny” with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese.
- Allow to cool slightly then fill ramekin with ranch dressing.
