S’mores dip is quick, easy, and so addicting! All you need is 2 ingredients and some graham crackers or fresh fruit for dipping.
Why this recipe works
What is s’mores dip? Golden toasted marshmallows atop milk chocolate chips baked to gooey perfection then dipped with graham crackers, fresh fruit, and even cookies. It’s a simple recipe using ingredients you probably already have on hand, plus, it takes just under 10 minutes to make.
We typically reach for this dessert when it’s raining outside or when we have guests over. It’s something quick and cost-effective that everyone goes crazy over. You may even like our S’mores Icebox Cake, which is equally as impressive using simple ingredients.

CHOCOLATE – We’ve used both chocolate bars and chocolate chips to make s’mores dip. They both work well, so whichever you prefer will be just fine. Though we do suggest using Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips as these seemed to melt best compared to others.
MARSHMALLOWS – Regular sized marshmallows are used in this recipe, but you can also use jumbo or even multi-colored marshmallows as well.
DIPPERS – Graham crackers are a must for making a classic s’mores dip. They’re the perfect dippers, but you can try strawberries, apple slices, raspberries, shortbread cookies, pretzels, and Nilla wafers for more options.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
If you plan on bringing this dip somewhere, you can prep everything ahead of time, but hold off on baking it until you’re ready to serve. However, if you prep it ahead of time just know you’ll want to remove the marshmallows on top to allow the chocolate to melt in the oven for a few minutes before placing the marshmallows back on. Or simply bag up your marshmallows or bring everything and prep at the party (it only takes a few minutes)!
You can reheat your dessert dip in the oven for a few minutes. You can also use the microwave, but be cautious of scorching your chocolate! We’d recommend the oven for reheating, as the chocolate will need longer to heat up than the marshmallows will which may cause you to overcook the marshmallow making them tough and hard if reheated in the microwave.
You do not have to use a cast iron skillet. You can use a pie plate or baking dish instead if you’d like, but we always opt for the cast iron skillet as it retains heat for longer helping your chocolate stay gooey and dippable!
Serving Suggestions
S’mores dip is best served warm and fresh from the oven when you can enjoy the melty chocolate and marshmallows. You can serve this dip with the classic s’more ingredient, graham crackers, and with a few different fruit options like strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and apple slices. Pretzels are also great for the salty and sweet lovers out there or try shortbread cookies and Nilla wafers.
Making s’mores dip in a skillet is great for parties or get-togethers, or really, for whenever you want to enjoy the toasty marshmallow goodness!
