JELLO – The best part of this recipe is the flavor possibilities with gelatin. You can use whatever flavor you want to make these jello roll-ups. Sugar-free Jell-O works just as well as regular and can certainly be substituted. The marshmallows will absorb whichever color you decide to go with.

- Grease an 8×8 pan with vegetable oil or spray. You will need two 8×8 pans, one for each color jello.
- In a medium-sized bowl add 1/2 cup of boiling water and 3 ounces of one Jell-O mix. Whisk until sugar is fully dissolved. You may need to add this to the microwave for another minute to keep the water temperature up for the sugar to dissolve.
- Once the sugar is dissolved fully, add 1-1/2 cups of mini marshmallows. Whisk to cover with Jell-O completely and microwave for 30 seconds. Whisk until the marshmallows are completely dissolved.
- Pour into the 8×8 pan and chill in the refrigerator uncovered for a minimum of 1 hour.
- Repeat all of the above steps for your second color Jell-O.
- Use a butter knife to loosen and remove from the pan as a full sheet. Roll the sheet tightly on itself in parchment paper. Allow to sit for about 30 minutes to stick to itself. Remove the parchment paper and cut into 1 inch strips.

Tried out the recipe only (didn’t read the blog post first) and my son was SO pleased. My husband and I liked the morsels that we got. It was nice and easy to make with my 2.5 year old. We will be making it again very soon!

We havev’t tested that, but I believe it should work with double the ingredients.

I just made them for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I used orange jello brand. And the great value mini marshmallows from Walmart. I added four cups of marshmallows. I always add extra of whatever a treat recipe calls for. I only had coconut oil to oil my tempt-tations pans..so when the pans came out of the fridge ,I had to warm the bottoms of the pans to melt the coconut oil. I ate a couple of them. I like them very much. No one else is home yet to eat them. My family just automatically will disagree with all I say or do. But knowing them, they will eat them all in a few minutes and tell me they couldn’t stand them. Which means they like them.

Can you use marshmallow fluff instead of regular marshmallows?
Amanda Formaro says
We have not tested that, however should you decide to experiment we would love to hear your results!
Anna says
Why do they look like there’s two layers when they’re rolled up? Like a solid and a foggy one?
Amanda Formaro says
After the marshmallow is mixed with the jello, the marshmallow layer will rise and separate.
Sheena says
Would Starburst or Skittle brand jello work the same as the Jello brand?
Amanda Formaro says
We haven’t tested that ourselves, but I’m sure it would work.
Sheena says
Thank you, I’m making some for a kids birthday party and I was gonna do a variety of flavors, but I could only find a couple flavors in the Jello brand and then came across more flavors in the Starburst and Skittles brand and didn’t know if they would turn out like the Jello would. The couple flavors in the Jello brand I will do, along with the others, just to be safe. I would be glad to let you know if and how the Starburst and Skittles jello turns out. Thank you!

Can you use sugar free jello?
Amanda Formaro says
Yes
Miss says
The jello and marshmallow separated in the cooling process. And the blue batch was extremely sticky for some reason. They were too thick to roll up so we just cut them up into squares. They tasted ok, just nothing like they were supposed to be.
Sharon says
We made a small batch of cherry. There was a foamy top and jello bottom. It was like the marshmallows and jello did not mix together yet we did. In the chilling process they separated. They were still good though. Do you know what happened?
Karen Woods says
Can we do adult (liquor) roll ups

Should you let it sit in the fridge for the 30 mins while it is wrapped in parchment paper?
Meg says
Can you freeze these to last longer?
Amanda Formaro says
Unfortunately jello doesn’t freeze well.
Sarah coooooooooooperzzxxxx says
Keep mine in the freezer and the jello froze just fine ..
Rhonda says
Why does the recipe call for 3cups of marshmallows when instructions only use 1/2 cup for each of the two colors of jello? Am I missing something?
Kristen Formaro says
Hi Rhonda, the instructions say to use 1 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows in step 3. Then you repeat the same process for the second flavor of jello (step 5). Hope that helps!
Rose says
Can you use parchment paper rather than spraying oil on your pan?
Amanda Formaro says
We haven’t tested that method but would love to hear your results if you decide to experiment!
Gail says
I am sorry Amanda for asking a foolish question but what if you do not have a microwave?
Amanda Formaro says
You can do this on the stovetop as well
Danielle says
Can these be made with adult beverages?
Amanda Formaro says
We haven’t tried that, but I’m sure you can. Let us know if you experiment!
