Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
PINEAPPLE – Grab a bag frozen pineapple chunks, you can keep it true to the name and use Dole frozen pineapple chunks, who were the original creators of this soft-serve frozen dessert back in 1984. If you can’t seem to find them you can easily chop up fresh pineapple into small chunks, place them in a freezer bag, and freeze until solid.
ICE CREAM – Use a regular vanilla ice cream or even a dairy-free vanilla ice cream for this recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
Yes, you can make Dole Whip dairy-free, in fact, Dole Whip from Disney has now turned exclusively vegan. You can substitute the ice cream with chilled coconut milk in this homemade version to make it dairy-free, or simply use a dairy-free vanilla ice cream. Using coconut milk may result in a different texture, something more similar to a frosted drink. Optionally add more frozen pineapple chunks to thicken it up.

Serving Suggestions
Turn it into a float by pouring pineapple juice over your finished Dole Whip in a cup. You can also pipe it on top of cones or serve it as is in a dish. Serve right away or pop it in the freezer to chill even further, but be careful, the longer it’s in the freezer, the more solid it will become!

Nutrition
The recipes on this blog are tested with a conventional gas oven and gas stovetop. It’s important to note that some ovens, especially as they age, can cook and bake inconsistently. Using an inexpensive oven thermometer can assure you that your oven is truly heating to the proper temperature. If you use a toaster oven or countertop oven, please keep in mind that they may not distribute heat the same as a conventional full sized oven and you may need to adjust your cooking/baking times. In the case of recipes made with a pressure cooker, air fryer, slow cooker, or other appliance, a link to the appliances we use is listed within each respective recipe. For baking recipes where measurements are given by weight, please note that results may not be the same if cups are used instead, and we can’t guarantee success with that method.

Can you use crushed pineapple instesd of the chunks? I forgot to get pineapple chunks at the store, but have som crushed pineapplee on hand.
Amanda Davis says
Hi Sue. I haven’t tried that yet. Crushed pineapple comes in cans in juice and you need frozen pineapple. You could try draining the crushed pineapple, laying it out on a wax paper lined plate or sheet and freezing it. I’mm not sure that you’ll get the same effect, but if you decide to give it a try I’d love to hear if it worked out!
