Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
CHICKEN – You can use simple grilled or air fryer chicken breast. Other options include spicy oven fried chicken, blackened chicken, or oven fried chicken breast which are all great options that add their own elements of flavor to this sandwich! Choose your favorite.
BACON – I like to make an entire package of bacon and store it in a large ziptop bag in the fridge to use throughout the week. I do this by making it in the oven. Hop on over to our post on how to make bacon in the oven so you don’t have to deal with a bunch of grease cleanup on the side.
RANCH – Pre-bottled ranch works and so does the seasoning mix you whisk with milk and mayonnaise.
TOMATO – Either dice or slice the tomato, or omit it altogether if you aren’t a fan.
CHEESE – Like shredded cheese more? Go ahead and swap it with the sliced cheese.
BREAD – Our bread of choice is rye, but you can use your favorite sandwich bread in its place. Sourdough, whole grain, brioche buns, or sturdy white bread are other good choices.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
You can easily prepare your sandwich the morning of or even the night before if you’re taking it along with you for lunch. The same goes for prepping these for parties. However, I would suggest holding off on adding the ranch until just before enjoying it. Alternatively, you can create a barrier between the bread with the cheese and lettuce so it doesn’t get soggy as it sits.
Serving Suggestions
Serve your chicken bacon ranch sandwich with a side of french fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots, potato chips, and a pickle spear. Big-time ranch lovers will enjoy a side of extra ranch for dipping!
Optionally skewer with a toothpick topped with sliced pickles and extra bacon for holding the goodies inside. This is especially great if you plan on slicing them into quarters to serve as a grab-and-go appetizer for football parties or celebrations.
