The Bramble Cocktail
The Bramble is a modern classic named for the prickly, scrambling vine that yields plump, delicious blackberries. This drink was invented by bartender Dick Bradsell in London in 1984. A Bramble cocktail is served in a rock glass over ice and garnished with a plump blackberry.

- 2 oz London Dry gin
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup (sugar syrup)
- 1 oz blackberry liqueur (Crème de mure)
- Lemon slices and fresh blackberries for garnish

- Rock glasses
- Jigger

How to Mix a Bramble Cocktail
- Fill a rock glass (also known as an Old Fashioned glass) with crushed ice.

- Blackberry season runs from July to August making this an ideal summer cocktail. You can find blackberries in grocery stores year round, meaning you can enjoy a Bramble any time you like.
- For a fancier serving option, only shake the first three ingredients and strain into the glass. Then drizzle the Crème de mure over the top of the ice in the glass. Garnish. This is actually how the original Bramble cocktail was served.
- Crème de mure is a blackberry liqueur made from blackberry juice. Just like the fruit, this liqueur is deep purple, giving the drink its beautiful color.
