Easy Homemade Candy Bars

I don’t know about you, but I love graham crackers slathered in peanut butter. They make a really great snack and satisfy a sweet craving quickly. I also love those chocolate dipped graham crackers you get at Starbucks. Mmmm. So when a friend of mine mentioned combining all that wonderfulness into a homemade candy bar I was sold. These are very easy to make and kids and adults alike will love them!

I did also try putting Nutella in the middle of these but it has a much thinner consistency than peanut butter does so it didn’t work too well. I tried combining the peanut butter and Nutella but it was still pretty thin. It is doable for die hard Nutella fans like me though. :)

Notes: I’ve also included a no frills video below that shows how I shake the excess chocolate off the bars to keep the melted chocolate from pooling. Nothing exciting, but hopefully it’s helpful to some of you. :)

My kids loved these, but my 13 year old was infatuated. He keeps asking when I am making more!

graham crackers
peanut butter (you can mix with Nutella if you like)
Ghirardelli dipping chocolate or almond bark

Cut graham crackers into individual pieces using a sharp knife. You can break them with your fingers, but sometimes they don’t break evenly. Your best bet is to use a knife.

Spread one cracker with peanut butter, then place another graham cracker on top of it. Smooth the sides where peanut butter may have seeped out. Use extra peanut butter to make them even all the way around the cracker sandwich.

I used Ghirardelli melting chocolate I got from Sam’s Club. Awesome stuff. You can use almond bark or other melted chocolate as well.

Use appetizer tongs to dip in melted chocolate. Shake off the excess (see video below) and place on a lined with wax paper cookie sheet and allow chocolate to set.

You can see that the bars toward the top of the picture had too much chocolate causing a pool on the cookie sheet. The ones toward the bottom of the photo are the ones that I shook back and forth first. See the video below.

Here’s the video :)

    Eric B. says:

I made these today and they were awesome and SO easy. I used chocolate chips which I melted in the microwave at 50% power for a few mins. This resulted in a much thicker chocolate which did not drip much. I only had to sort of wipe a little off using the side of the bowl. Didnt have wax paper and aluminum foil worked fine. Put them in the fridge after so the chocolate hardened quicker. Thanks for the recipe,

I have decided we have a weird cooking karma. Every time I am perplexed with finding the right idea or recipe for something, it is here, on your home page, right at the moment I need it. Lemon rosemary cake? Yep, that one was a HUGE, HUGE success! Graham cracker bars…excellent choice for my Girl Scout Valentine cooking meeting. This will work and is easy and do-able. Thanks! :)

Added this to my "favorites" even before trying! thanks so much for sharing :) I may put them on wire rack to drain first, then after the chocolate has dropped, I will put them on waxed paper to dry. I will put waxed paper under the rack so I can catch all the yummy chocolate drippings! Great gift if I don't eat them all first :)

I’ve actually done the Nutella ones before. I mix in a couple of Tbsp of cornstarch with it and it stiffens right up. It doesn’t change the flavor like powdered sugar or cream cheese.
