With sweet layers of orange, lemon, sweetened condensed milk, and cake vodka these candy corn jello shots are a tasty alcohol-infused treat for Halloween!
Why this recipe works
Candy corn jello shots are a fun way to serve up a festive boozy shot at your Halloween parties. For those who aren’t a fan of candy corn, don’t fret, these shots are lively in orange-lemon-and creamy sweet flavor without the texture of the classic candies and will appeal to those on both sides of the fence when it comes to candy corn.
These candy corn shots are made in the same fashion as our 4th of July jello shots. The color combinations are endless using this technique and you can mix and match them to the theme of any holiday or celebration.

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
VODKA – Cake vodka adds a bit of a sweet touch to these shots with subtle notes of buttercream frosting and vanilla. You can use vanilla vodka, whipped cream vodka, fluffed marshmallow vodka, or even orange vodka to bring out the flavors of the orange jello layer. You do not need top shelf vodka to make jello shots, use what is available to you. Feel free to mix up the type of vodka you use in each layer if desired.
JELLO – Layer one uses lemon jello, layer two is orange jello, and the third layer is a mixture of unflavored gelatin with sweetened condensed milk. I do not recommend substituting the sweetened condensed milk for evaporated milk or regular milk, it likely won’t set correctly and will not taste good.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
We used 2.5 ounce shot glasses for this recipe. You can easily make these shots in smaller shot glasses if desired. These 2 oz shot glasses that come with disposable lids are a popular option and would work well for these candy corn jello shots. If you use glasses or cups smaller than 2.5 ounces as we used, you will get even more shots out of this recipe, so keep that in mind for how many cups you may need!
Yes, you can make these alcohol-free, after all, they are just jello with a bit of vodka subbed in for some of the water! Prepare the jello per instructions on the back of your gelatin boxes and layer according to our directions listed in the post.
Yes, you can and should make these candy corn jello shots ahead of time. The recipe calls for at minimum 3 hours of set time as you will need an hour in between each layer for the jello to set. You can make the jello shots a day or two in advance and store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Reserve the whipped cream and candy corn garnish until you are ready to enjoy.Â
Store your shots in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Technically, the vodka works as a preservative in these jello shots, but they are best when consumed fresh or within the 5-day mark.
Serving Suggestions
Optionally eat with a spoon if you are using tall shot glasses, or squeeze the cups to loosen the jello if you are using plastic shot glasses. Serve with a garnish of whipped cream and candy corn pieces.
A fun way to serve these candy corn shots is to prepare them in plastic shot glasses fitted with a lid and pass them out to the adults taking their kids trick or treating on Halloween night. Or, simply serve them on a platter to dress up the Halloween food table at your next party. Enjoy!
