My Inspiration
On the Illinois/Wisconsin state line there is a wonderful place called Harvest Time Orchards. You can pick your own apples and pumpkins, or buy them directly from their “barn” shop. In their “cider barn” you can watch them make apple cider too, which was always a huge hit with my kids when they were small. People line up to buy their homemade donuts and bratwurst.
They sell apple cider by the half gallon and the gallon and we bought some every year. They also offer a seasonal treat – apple cider shakes. I asked them what was in it and they said soft serve vanilla ice cream, apple cider and cinnamon. I created my own so I could have them any time I wanted.

I saw that! It’s not permanent is it? Is it just because of Covid? I don’t live in Twin Lakes anymore so I’m out of the loop. I loved it there!

I tried this after a friend, who owns an apple orchard, told me to try it. Yes, it is as delicious as it sounds. My family loves cider shakes.
We get our cider from an Amish family and it is naturally very sweet and flavorful. I prefer it over the cider sold at the grocery chains.
