Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
CUCUMBER – The star of the show. You’ll only need 1 English cucumber for this recipe, with enough leftovers to slice and dunk in the sauce. The juices squeezed from the cucumber can be frozen and later added to soups and stews!
YOGURT – Greek yogurt is key here. This is the main component of the sauces tangy flavor. I wouldn’t recommend using regular yogurt. Whole milk plain Greek yogurt is what you want!
HERBS – We typically reach for fresh dill but if you’d rather use fresh mint for your tzatziki sauce, go right ahead!

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
Store your tzatziki sauce in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. This dip must be refrigerated and is best served chilled.
You can freeze tzatziki sauce, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing so due to its high water content. Once thawed, the texture of the sauce may change and the mixture may begin to separate. Otherwise, you can freeze the sauce in an air-tight container for up to 2 months. Thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and give it a good stir to incorporate all the ingredients.
Tzatziki sauce is a traditional Greek condiment popular for its refreshing, creamy texture. It is often served as a dip, sauce, or side dish in a variety of Mediterranean-style spreads. Tzatziki’s key ingredients are Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and fresh herbs such as dill or mint. It’s so versatile that you can enjoy it with just about anything you want!
Serving Suggestions

Or, drizzle it over fish, grilled meats, and gyros. It’s even amazing as a burger condiment or as a dipping sauce for chicken wings and falafel!
