Bacon wrapped scallops make an elegant and tasty appetizer or main course with only 6 ingredients and the help of the boiler.
Why this recipe works
Sea scallops are snuggled in a blanket of tender bacon for mini flavor-packed hors d’oeuvres. These bacon wrapped scallops are super simple to make for parties or as a melt-in-your-mouth dinner.
The bacon adds a delicious salty-smokey flavor while the plump scallops are succulent and briny – truly a match made in perfect harmony. In fact, just about anything wrapped in bacon can kick it up a notch or two, take bacon wrapped little smokies for example – another popular bite-sized appetizer everyone loves.

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
SCALLOPS – Some sea scallops may have a small tendon attached. Simply peel off the tendon before beginning if they happen to have one. Scallops purchased from the meat counter or freezer case normally already have the tendon removed. Try and choose scallops that are uniform in size for even cooking.
BACON – We suggest center cut bacon because it is the same width all the way across and at both ends. This ensures even cooking. The bacon is tender in this recipe, if you prefer it crispy, partially cook it before wrapping the scallops. The bacon still needs to be tender and moldable in order to wrap around the scallops, so be sure not to overcook it if you decide to go this route.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
Bacon wrapped scallops are best enjoyed right away as scallops don’t reheat that well. If you want to save leftovers, place them in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop.
Serving Suggestions
Serve bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer, optionally with the toothpick still inserted for easing grabbing. Or enjoy them as a main course with a side of roast potatoes, lemon couscous, orzo, or a fresh dinner salad. You can also serve them over the top of pasta if desired. Enjoy warm from the oven.
