How to make Slutty Brownies
While it will be super tempting to cut into these amazing brownies shortly after taking them out of the oven, you must resist the urge. They need some time to set up so they won’t be a gooey mess right out of the gate. Let them rest for at least 2 hours after they come out of the oven.
First, make the brownie batter:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the sugar and cocoa powder once the butter is melted.
- Whisk to combine and remove from heat. Add the salt, vanilla and eggs and continuously whisk until the eggs are combined.
- Add the flour and continue to mix. Set batter aside.
Next, mix together the cookie dough:
- Cream together the butter and sugars in a mixer. Add the egg and vanilla, making sure to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl.
- Add the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder and mix on low until everything is incorporated.
- Fold in the chocolate chips. Set dough aside.
Now let’s assemble the layers:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom of a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper. It’s best to leave an overhang on all sides to make it easy to remove the brownies! Spread the cookie dough into the pan, pressing down with a fork or your fingers.
- Add a single layer of Oreo cookies, using as many as will fit. We used 21 cookies, one of those broken in half to fill the space.
- Add the brownie batter on top of the Oreo layer.
- Spread the batter so that it completely covers the Oreo layer.
Bake them up:
- Bake for 35-40 minutes. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. The toothpick should come out clean. Move pan to a cooling rack and allow to cool for two hours. Lift the brownies out with the parchment paper handles and cut into squares.
Serving Slutty Brownies
It would seem that it’s a no-brainer. You pick up a brownie and put it into your mouth, right? Sure, you could do that. Or you could take these over-the-top brownie bars even farther by topping them with a big scoop of ice cream.
And of course, you can’t forget to drizzle that ice cream with chocolate syrup. I mean, if you’re going to eat Slutty Brownies, you should be completely vested in the experience! Enjoy!
