Piled with roast beef and melty mozzarella cheese between a buttery sweet Hawaiian roll, these roast beef sliders are hands down the best appetizer for parties!
Why this recipe works
Roast beef sliders leave a lasting impression, trust us. Horseradish mayo layered with sliced roast beef and melty mozzarella cheese sandwiched between slider buns and finally topped with garlic butter and poppy seeds make these mini sandwiches downright tantalizing.
Get creative with your toppings and follow your gut. Sauteed sliced potatoes and caramelized onions like we use in our classic roast beef sandwich are great toppers if you’re feeling fancy. Otherwise, an extra sprinkle of cheese and crispy onion straws will add texture and flavor as well. The additions are up to you here!

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
Leftover sliders can be stored in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. The longer they sit in the fridge, the soggier the buns will become as they soak up the surrounding ingredients. Pop them in the air fryer using the reheat function to warm them back up. Or, reheat in a 350F oven covered with aluminum foil until warmed through.
Serving Suggestions
Serve roast beef sliders with potato chips, french fries, sweet potato fries, or coleslaw. Garnish the sliders with poppy seeds as well as optional onion straws, pickles, or caramelized onions. Pair with extra horseradish mayo or au just for dipping.
These sliders are great for all occasions, especially game day. Enjoy warm from the pan.

- 12 Hawaiian rolls or slider buns
- ¾ cup horseradish mayo
- 1 pound thin sliced deli roast beef or shaved roast beef
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese about 2 cups
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter very softened
- 1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
Things You’ll Need
Before You Begin
- Instead of poppy seeds, you can use black sesame seeds for garnish.
- It’s best if your ingredients are at room temperature before you begin so that everything bakes evenly.
- We state “very softened butter” in the ingredients. It should be spreadable but not melted, a pudding-like texture is what we shoot for.
- You can use shredded or sliced mozzarella, provolone, Swiss, cheddar, or Gruyere.
- If you are making these sandwiches to take with to a party, bake them in a 13×9 foil pan. Cover with foil and take with, no worrying about getting your pan back!

I’d rather have these as tiny French dippers. I’ve never understood the link between horseradish and roast beef. The only place I’m willing to eat it is in cocktail sauce. I can’t do spicy foods unless very mild.
