Freshly sliced crisp apples are drizzled with smooth peanut butter served with mini chocolate chips and toppings of your choice in this tasty apple nachos recipe.
Why this recipe works
One of fall’s most popular snacks are deliciously crisp apples. We dip them, bake them, and even cover them in caramel or candy coating – but have you ever thought to make them into apple nachos? It’s a simple idea really, but packs in lots of healthy antioxidants and nutrients for something that tastes so delicious.
Apple nachos are a good option for a light, crunchy snack or appetizer with peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, and whatever else your heart desires. What better way to use up your freshly picked apples from the orchard.

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
APPLE – Use your favorite type of apples, there is no right or wrong here. I like the sweeter variety for red apples like Red Delicious, Gala, or Fuji then I incorporate even more color and flavor by using a tart green apple like Grannysmith, Shamrock, or Golden Delicious (on the sweeter side).
TOPPINGS – Peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, and white chocolate chips are the basic go-to’s. You can substitute the peanut butter for almond butter or sunbutter. Shaved coconut, chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, white chocolate chips, caramel, chocolate drizzle, or even pumpkin pie dip on top are all good options.

- Core the apples and slice into 1/8th inch thick pieces. I like to use an apple corer. Toss in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Once all apples are sliced, arrange to your liking on a plate.
- In the microwave, heat the peanut butter in a small bowl and the white chocolate chips in another small bowl. This should take about 30 seconds to a minute. Stir well and drizzle individually over the sliced apples.
- Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and other toppings of your choice.
Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
The sky is the limit for apple nachos. You can drizzle on caramel, chocolate, or white chocolate and choose between mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, chopped nuts, shaved coconut, mini marshmallows, M&M’s, granola, and a sprinkle of cinnamon or apple pie spice for your toppings.
We recommend serving your apple nachos right away, however, we’ve included lemon juice in this recipe to help the apples look fresh for longer. Lemon juice will prevent browning on the apples for a couple of hours, so they will likely last for anywhere between 1-3 hours before browning begins.
Serving Suggestions
Craving something sweet, but still relatively healthy? Apple nachos are the perfect little snack for you. Enjoy them as a dessert or serve them as an appetizer at a party. If you’re hosting a party, you can set up an apple nacho station where your guests can choose what they’d like to top with.
