Tender asparagus spears are dipped and dredged in a crispy breadcrumb coating and then fried to golden brown perfection in this easy fried asparagus recipe!
Why this recipe works
Fried asparagus is one of our favorite ways to serve up those hearty green spears. The crispy, crunchy coating adds the perfect element of texture against the tender asparagus.
Think of them as green bean fries – first dredged them in flour, then in the egg mixture, and lastly roll in breadcrumbs before popping them into a pan of hot oil to sizzle. Serve asparagus fries with ranch to dunk in for the tastiest appetizer or side.

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions
ASPARAGUS – When choosing asparagus for frying, be sure to get hardy spears. Very thin spears will not hold up well.
OIL – Vegetable, canola, or peanut oil can be used to fry the asparagus in. All of which have a neutral flavor profile and high smoke point for frying.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips

Serving Suggestions
Serve fried asparagus with ranch or aioli for dipping. Optionally garnish with a squeeze of lemon juice or grated parmesan but they are just as delicious all on their own. They’re most often served as an appetizer but also make a tasty side to your main courses. Enjoy warm after being drained on paper towels.
