Looking for the best Appletini cocktail recipe? Look no further. This perfectly sweet and tart apple cocktail is a classic and sure to be a hit at your next get-together with friends!
Why this cocktail is more than just gorgeous
The appletini smacks of its Hollywood roots.
It’s sweet, with a bit of tartness, and vibrantly flavored just like the classic Cosmopolitan Cocktail. It was invented back in 1996 in a West Hollywood restaurant where the bartender originally tried to get the name “Adam’s Apple Martini” to stick… it didn’t.
Since then, the Appletini has gone on to be the cocktail of choice for TV characters like Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother, Dr. Dorian from Scrubs, and Alan Harper from Two and a Half Men. It is also the official cocktail of Facebook…
It’s a fun cocktail to serve for a night with the girls – it’s not too strong and the apple flavor is pleasant and not cloying. (A good apple vodka is definitely key here.)
Ingredients you need for this drink
I used a tart green apple vodka to make this recipe, but if your apple vodka lacks that tartness you are going to want to add in some lemon juice – and then some liquid sweetener to counterbalance that tartness. (Maple syrup, simple syrup, etc, all would work well in this recipe.) I also used that same vodka to make our Fizzy Apple Cocktail.
Expert Recipe Tips
- If you are not serving your cocktails straight away, soak the apple slices in lemon-lime soda or ginger ale or slice when you make the drinks.
- You can substitute apple cider for the apple juice, just be aware that because cider is cloudy and unfiltered, your finished cocktail will lackluster while still tasting great.
How to Make this delicious Appletini
For cocktails, and smaller measurements for cooking and baking, I prefer this little 4-ounce liquid measuring glass.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Pour in the apple vodka.
- Pour in the apple juice.
- Shake well to chill, and then taste.
- I used a green apple vodka that had a bit of a sour punch, so I didn’t feel the need to add lemon juice – and then the simple syrup to balance the tartness, but you may want to if your apple liquor is more subtle.
- Garnish your martini glass with an apple slice and serve.
