Steamed spinach is quick and easy to make in under 10 minutes from start to finish. It’s as simple as placing it in a steamer basket over boiling water and letting it rest until wilted.
Why this recipe works
A dash of salt, pepper, and butter helps add extra flavor to steamed spinach but you can easily experiment with other seasonings or toss in garlic, nuts, or parmesan cheese as you see fit.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips
You can use frozen spinach, but I recommend using fresh because the texture is much more palatable after being steamed. If using frozen, steam the spinach for closer to 5 minutes or until wilted.
Although steamed spinach is best served right away, you can store leftovers in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Serving Suggestions
Steamed spinach pairs well with many different things from beef, pork, chicken, fish, or vegetarian meals. Optionally garnish with melted butter, grated parmesan cheese, crumbled bacon, or a squeeze of lemon juice.
