Sea scallops are snuggled in a blanket of tender bacon for mini flavor-packed hors d'oeuvres. These bacon wrapped scallops are super simple to make for parties or as a melt-in-your-mouth dinner.
Wrap each scallop with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on baking sheet.
Sprinkle each scallop with garlic salt and pepper.
Add a small amount of olive oil to the top of each scallop.
Place in broiler for 10 minutes.
Notes
We suggest center cut bacon because it is the same width all the way across and at both ends. This ensures even cooking. The bacon is tender in this recipe, if you prefer it crispy, partially cook it before wrapping the scallops. The bacon still needs to be tender and moldable in order to wrap around the scallops, so be sure not to overcook it if you decide to go this route (the bacon will still cook under the broiler).
Some sea scallops may have a small tendon attached. Simply peel off the tendon before beginning if they happen to have one. Scallops purchased from the meat counter or freezer case normally already have the tendon removed. Choose scallops that are uniform in size for even cooking.
