These cheese and pretzel broomsticks would make a fun addition to a Halloween charcuterie board or to simply serve as a festive snack to the kiddos. Plus, you'll only need 3 ingredients and 10 minutes of time to make them!
3string cheese stickscheddar, mozzarella, and twists
9pretzel sticks
chives
Instructions
Begin by cutting your string cheese sticks into three sections each.
Using a knife, slice vertical lines up the bottom of each section, mimicking the look of a broom. You can cut about halfway up the cheese, but be sure to leave the top portion of the cheese intact so it doesn't fall apart.
Tie a chive in a knot around the base of the cheese stick then double knot it to secure. Be careful doing this step as the chive can easily break with too much tension. Trim excess chive off the knot.
Attach a pretzel stick to the top of the string cheese base. If you find that your pretzel sticks are breaking, or they are breaking the cheese as you add them, try using a toothpick to create a small hole before adding the pretzels.
Notes
Double or triple the recipe to make more.
You can use whatever kind of string cheese you prefer for this recipe. Mozzarella and cheddar are the classics, but Colby Jack and twists are also fun!
Chives are very thin and can break easily under tension. Be careful when tying them in a knot. I always like to have a little extra on hand in case they break as I'm tying.
