No cooking! Slice, stir, arrange, and serve! This beautiful charcuterie board is themed for any patriotic occasion. Perfect for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
Sweets: Swedish fish, any red, white, or blue candies, Muddy Buddies, white chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered strawberries, yogurt dipped dried cranberries, angel food cake cubes, marshmallows
Instructions
Slice meats 1/4-inch thick or smaller. This will yield enough for your guests and still keep them finger food sized.
Cut blocks of cheese into cubes and sliced cheeses into strips or star shapes.
Thin sliced meats can be rolled up and placed close together.
Finger food fruits and veggies, like raspberries and olives, can be placed in small condiment bowls.
Dips and spreads should be served in bowls with small appetizer spreader knives.
The only other step is assembling the board. This is not really an instruction as the ingredients each person uses on their board will be different. You can get some ideas from our photos!
How to Serve:
It’s best to build your charcuterie board wherever it will be served at the party. While it is on a portable board, the more you pile on, the higher the risk of things falling out of place when you move it. Our example is packed to the extreme, you can leave as lunch space as you would like on yours!
Place small appetizer plates, napkins, and utensils near the board for guests.
A container with cocktail toothpicks is a great addition, perfect for picking up items finger-free.
Notes
Look for finger foods with a red or blue/purple tone to bring out the patriotic feel! I’ve listed a bunch of examples in the ingredient suggestions above.
Balance out your board by having a wide variety of foods in the three different color schemes.
Use an oversized cutting board to get as much as possible packed together.
You can tint white dips such as vanilla yogurt, using a bit of blue food coloring or gel paste.
While a star shaped cookie cutter is handy, it’s not a deal breaker. Use a sharp paring knife to slice food into discs, then shape those slices into stars.
Using packaged sliced cheese is a real time saver, and they are perfect for cutting into stars!
