Yes I am giving away a fabulous indoor grill/griddle that you are going to love! I made Sausage and Peppers, roasted hot dogs and I’ve made pancakes on it too. Sausage and peppers are one of my all time favorites. I actually skip the carbs and don’t use a bun, but hubby likes to pile it all on a toasted French roll and go to town. However you eat it, nestled in a bun or sliced up, these are simple and delicious.
I was sent this fabulous grill from Cuisinart to try out. The top is a grill on one side, perfect for meats and vegetables, and a griddle on the other, excellent for sauteing chopped vegetables and making eggs or pancakes. Down below there are skewers for kabobs, or you can use the rotating tubes and cook sausages and dogs to perfection. I am actually really pleased with this and am so glad I have it. It worked beautifully and clean up was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I’ll be able to enjoy cooking on the grill inside this winter, instead of shoveling a path to my outdoor grill. And yes, I absolutely do grill in the winter!
After assembling the grill, which was rather easy, I checked the booklet that came with it. There’s a guide in there to help you determine what setting to use and it also has a handful of recipes to get you started. I had already planned to make hot dogs and Italian sausage, but then I noticed that they use the same method I do for preparing the peppers, only I don’t measure anything! ;)
First I made sure that the griddle side was facing up, then I set the grill to High and let it preheat for about ten minutes. Because the uncooked sausages were going to take about 30 minutes (precooked take 20) and hot dogs only 20, I put the sausages on the rollers first.
Then I sliced up some red, yellow and green peppers and some sweet onion. I placed them in a bowl and drizzled them with some olive oil then sprinkled them with a little Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss to coat.
I spread the peppers and onions onto the griddle and turned them now and them with a spatula.
Now it was time to add the hot dogs. I let them cook for 20 minutes and removed everything from the grill. Because of the placement of the heating element (see it above the sausage?) the griddle cooks on top, while at the same time the meat cooks down below!
Everything was perfect! I turned off the grill and unplugged it to let it cool off while we ate.
By the time we were finished eating dinner, the grill was cooled off and I was able to wash the parts easily. There are drip trays that sit under the rollers that can be removed and washed, then you just wipe the exterior if needed and the outside of the drip tray drawers. Easy peasy.
The next morning I preheated the griddle top to Medium and made perfect pancakes for breakfast. Nice!
| Mmmmmm |
With Labor Day right around the corner and fall weather approaching, many people will be using their outdoor grill for one last month or so before the snow begins to fly. Luckily for me (and for one of you!) I’ll be able to grill from the warmth of my kitchen instead of braving the cold!
