It’s Sunday night, 9:20 PM, and I’m wiped out. In fact, I might just go right to bed after this post. It was a busy weekend here. Friday night we went to a hockey game because of Dominic (more below). And, while Dominic’s birthday was actually two weeks ago, we just finally had his friends over for cake and ice cream on Saturday. And of course, today was Valentine’s Day and I promised to make heart shaped cookies with my daughter for her boyfriend. I also need to announce the seven winners of the cookbook giveaway.
We’ll start with the cookies. The cookie recipe is awesome, even unfrosted they are irresistible, you can find the cut out sugar cookie recipe and the royal icing recipe here. We made several different kinds of hearts, and we also made some letters spelling out “ILY” (I love you) and “I LUV U”. We would have spelled them right but some of my alphabet cookie cutters have been misplaced. ;-) We did XOX for kisses and hugs. Totally reminds me of my mom. She always signed all my birthday cards with X’s and O’s. :)
She wanted to cut a frozen pizza into a heart shape, but we settled on heart shaped pepperonis instead.
I always buy a bunch of frozen pizzas for the kids, especially my oldest. He’s 17, gets out of school earlier than everyone else, then goes to work shortly afterward. So he usually comes home and throws in a pizza before he leaves. Since not everyone likes the same thing (daughter likes plain cheese, boys like pepperoni, I like sausage), I started buying cheese pizzas and I have a huge bag of pepperonis in the freezer I bought at a restaurant supply store. They just take what they want and add them on top. Works great. We cut some pepperonis and turned a boring pizza into a romantic pizza. Awwwwww.
And of course, Dominic had his friends over for cake and ice cream. I was counting down the minutes for the noise to end LOL!
Most knew he wanted to hit the stores, so they gave him cash and gift cards. He bought some video games (naturally).
We bought him a new bike, his was pretty trashed.
I just realized while typing this that I actually went from Sunday back to Friday. Here we are at Friday. Dominic is in the band at school. They were invited to play America the Beautiful at the opening of the Milwaukee Admirals hockey game.
Very cool! I had never actually been to a hockey game, so it was TONS of fun for me. Dominic enjoyed it immensely and it will definitely be something we’ll do again.
And finally, I’d like to announce the winners of the cookbook giveaway! I’ll announce them here and contact them. Each person will have 7 days to respond, that deadline being Sunday, February 21st at 10:00 PM CST or a new winner(s) will be drawn to replace any that did not claim their prize. Thank you to all that entered and that became fans of Amanda’s Cookin’ on Facebook!
I’m going to bed.
