Have you ever had one of those Betty Crocker Warm Delights? That’s what this recipe reminded me of. It was the kind of culinary pleasure that causes ones eyelashes to flutter, them the lids close and your eyeballs roll up into your skull. Then your throat releases that pleasurable moan as the eyelids open again, just long enough to get the spoon back into the dish and into the mouth again.
Phew… is it hot in here???
Anyway, this week’s TWD recipe, Rick Katz’s Brownies for Julia, found on page 91, was chosen by Tanya of Chocolatechic. You can get the recipe for yourself by visiting Chocolatechic or opening Dorie Greenspan’s fabulous book, Baking From My Home to Yours.
The recipe called for baking these in a 9×9 Pyrex dish, however, mine is 8×8. I put most of the batter into the 8×8, but put some in a ramekin and baked it along side the pan.
I think if I make these again, I’ll do them all in ramekins, what a joy! I took the pan of brownies out and let it cool a while, then cut into them and they were runny inside. So I preheated the oven again and popped them in for another 15 minutes. That helped, but I think a 13×9 would have been better. Either way, they were devoured, no leftovers. Very gooey and chocolatey!
As you can see from the photo, I added vanilla ice cream and some leftover ganache I hat in the fridge. Sooooooo goooooood. Thanks for picking this Tanya!

This looks absolutely insane! YUM!
These were definitely ice cream sundae worthy. I chilled mine on the deck, so they were pretty frozen and perfect to slice, otherwise, I'd probably have had the major oozing goo, too!
I did think a 9×13 would have been better–that was A LOT of batter in a 9×9 pan! I forgot to whip the eggs, so I'm sure mine are a little different, but a good brownie nonetheless!
Fab photos, Amanda!
What a great idea to do them in little ramekins…those would be a big hit around here, and easy to make into any number of possibilities, yours looks really lovely.
OMG! So wonderful! :)

We have a lot of similarities this week. I had to bake twice, too. And I also smothered my brownies in ice cream and doused with some left over ganache. Great minds…
