This week Kait of Kait’s Plate selected My Best Chocolate Chip Cookies from Dorie’s book, Baking from My Home to Yours on page 68.
These were flat. Bummer. I am not a flat chocolate chip cookie fan. BUT the flavor was phenomenal. Very, very tasty, I just wish they were puffier. I was able to salvage one decent looking cookie to photograph. LOL
I left out the nuts and subbed in some caramel chips. They added a nice flavor and a little more chew. They looked good as soon as they came out of the oven. Then they cooled and were flat. :-p
Not the prettiest, but none went to waste. Every last one was eaten. I wonder if the nuts would have added to the body of these? At any rate, they tasted great! Visit Kait’s blog above for the recipe. Thanks for picking these Kait!

Sorry they went flat, but they do look chewy and delicious!
I don't have a problem with flat cookies. Hint-hint. Wink-wink! :)

Flat cookies aren't the greatest but they sound like they were tasty with the caramel chips. I love your photos!
They are not the prettiest cookies for sure, but they look delicious! xxoo
How funny – that's how mine looked too. I was concerned at first, but they devoured them at work – so they can't be all that bad! Sorry they weren't more puffier for you – but they look fantastic!
I'm not a fan of flat cookies either, but flavor will always trump thickness. They sound delicious!
Mine were pretty flat too, even though I added nuts. As you say, they were delicious. I'm keen on looking for a puffier recipe now. :)
I'm not a flat cookie fan either, but I am sure they tasted great! Plus, with the caramel, you can't go wrong!
Mine were flat, too, which are also not my favorite kind. (I did add the pecans, which I liked, but it didn't help them with the flattening.) Although not my favorite, they all got eaten up here, too!
I'm okay with flat cookies. They tend to be chewier, it seems – which is a positive to me! Love the caramel chips – yum!
the pictures look lovely! mmm caramel anything is awesome.
Yeh, I like puffy too but at least they were yummy!
Sorry these turned out flat. Maybe you could reduce the sugar??
ooooh, caramel chips!! Yum!! They look great and I am glad everyone enjoyed them! Love that plate!!!
Estupendas Galletas. Un saludo
Hey flat is all right as long as they tasted good!
The flat ones work perfectly if they end up pleasing everyone. Always a good sign when they are gone.
I discovered, I like flat cookies, at least these. They were delicious. The nuts did not make them puffier.
Caramel chips sound delicious! What a great flavor twist. Flat or not, the caramel chip cookies still disappeared . . . a wonderful sign. There is nothing worse then nobody eating something baked =)
Funny how we often have similar results! My cookies were very flat. So much so that it melted the chunks of chopped chocolate into the cookie. Hubby didn't like these at all. I thought the taste was good, but not the look.
Yes, these were awfully flat. The taste though – man. I think the caramel chips are a great idea though. I'm sure the flavour they add is phenomenal.
They did taste really, really good – but I am a thick and chewy kind of a girl too!
Yours really do look like the perfect thin cookie. And they must have been good if they all disappeared!
Your cookies turned out great. I love your blue and white plate!
Ooooh caramel chips!?! What an awesome idea! LOVE it!
Not a fan of flat. They tasted good, but not good enuff to repeat.
Love your ONE Good cookie.
