Cookbook Giveaway for My Facebook Fans :)

So I have two things: 1) A facebook fan page, and 2) a bunch of cookbooks. So I have decided to do a giveaway and get some more fans at the same time. If you are already a fan, you already qualify! Wasn’t that easy?? (special thanks to FamilyCorner.com for the cookbooks!)

You can earn up to 3 entries:

1) If you are not already a fan, all you have to do is go to the Amanda’s Cookin’ fan page on facebook and click on the “Become a Fan” button. If you are already a fan, you already qualify here. :)

2) Post a comment on the fan page wall that relates to THIS post. So in other words, look for the notification about this post on the fan page and post a comment there.

3) Post a comment on this post here on the blog.

Books will be randomly matched up with winners. However, if you post your top three choices in your comment, I will do my best to get you the book you want! No guarantees though :-p

Giveaway ends on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, at midnight CST. Good luck! Open to U.S. residents only, sorry guys, the shipping to Canada and beyond is a bit too much :(

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of these books I’ve had for a while sitting in my cookbook collection. They are in excellent condition, but I did noticed that the jacket on Bon Appetit Y’all is a little rough at the top. So fair warning. :)

PRIZES
Books being given away include (please note, the descriptions below are either reviews from Amazon or posted product descriptions, not personal reviews from me):

Bon Appetit, Y’all: Recipes and Stories from Three Generations of Southern Cooking

Although Willis has trained in France’s finest kitchens, her heart dwells nostalgically in her deep roots in America’s South. Her grandmother and mother, both adventuresome cooks, were skilled at whipping up southern classic dishes as well as reproducing dishes shown each week on Julia Child’s television series. Willis takes pains to treat the whole of this tradition respectfully. Thus, she presents quintessentially southern cheese straws (interestingly enough, baked by her grandfather) next to similar, yet thoroughly French, gougères. Fried chicken takes its customary top spot among the poultry recipes, but there are many less-caloric propositions for dealing with one of the South’s favorite meats. Shellfish dominate seafood offerings, and both Cajun and Creole traditions appear. Southern baking wouldn’t exist without biscuits, and Willis presents clear instructions for making both yeast and baking-powder versions. To crown these biscuits, Willis has recipes for both jams and jellies.

The Steamy Kitchen Cookbook

I was lucky enough to see an advance copy of Jaden Hair’s Steamy Kitchen Cookbook and it is spectacular. Beautiful photography (Jaden herself shot the food…and then served the dishes to her family, so this is not fake, styled food) and exciting layout make this a coffee-table worthy book…but be sure to take it into the kitchen and use it for the terrific recipes. Jaden is a wonderful writer and hilariously irreverent, so having this book as your kitchen companion will make dinner prep a lot more fun. You may know Jaden from her wildly popular food blog or her newspaper column in The Tampa Trib or her TV appearances…this book brings it all together, PLUS. This is her first cookbook, but I’ll bet it won’t be her last. She’s on her way to stardom…discover her NOW and enjoy the fun of making delish Asian food easily. I’m giving a copy of The Steamy Kitchen Cookbook to all my favorite people this Christmas

Freshman in the Kitchen: From Clueless Cook to Creative Chef

The best compliment once could receive with this cookbook, ostensibly written for novice cooks, was one I received the other day, after encouraging an elderly friend to buy the book. She bought it for her granddaughter, but decided to try it out first. The comments/compliments focused on the easiness of the recipes, the great food produced, and the attractive and easy to use format. My friend had to buy another copy for herself because she wanted a copy too! I agree on all counts – the book flows easily, the text is amusing and easy to follow, the food is delicious, and Max and Eli really like food and try to impart that to the reader. I have tried three recipes already, and even for a seasoned cook, the recipes are spot-on. This cookbook ios not your typical “novice cook” book, but one that appeals to any age, any background and level of cook, and some of the food stories are very funny. Highly recommended!

The Sneaky Chef to the Rescue: 101 All-New Recipes and “”Sneaky”" Tricks for Creating Healthy Meals Kids Will Love

Brilliant and life changing! Buy this book!

The Sneaky Chef recipes have changed not only my way of approaching how I cook and feed my family, but how we will eat for the rest of our lives. I first started cooking with The Sneaky Chef last Fall and what excited me about a new book were the new recipes for me to add to our menu! I purchased it less than a week ago and already we have eaten: Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Sticks, Pasta with Better Butter Sauce, Sneak-wiches, Retro Tuna Casserole, and Fabulous Fried Rice. They have all been devoured, filling my children, my husband and me with lots of fabulous veggies!

Vegan Lunch Box: 130 Amazing, Animal-Free Lunches Kids and Grown-Ups Will Love!

If you think vegan lunchtime means peanut butter and jelly day after day, think again! Based on the wildly popular blog of the same name, Vegan Lunch Box offers an amazing array of meat-free, egg-free, and dairy-free meals and snacks.

All the recipes are organized into menus to help parents pack quick, nutritious, and irresistible vegan lunches. Ideal for everyday and special occasions, Vegan Lunch Box features tips for feeding even the most finicky kids.

It includes handy allergen-free indexes identifying wheat-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free recipes, and product recommendations that make shopping a breeze.

Friday Night Bites: Kick off the Weekend with Recipes and Crafts for the Whole Family

It’s time for some family fun with creative crafts and out-of-this-world meals, and you might even learn something, too! Take the whole gang on a trip through the imagination with food and activities for all ages, any old Friday night.

This cookbook offers up 20 different dinners and over 100 recipes to make dinnertime fun again! Have a meal under the sea, in the park, on the moon, or back in time; there are jobs for kids and adults, and every meal includes appetizers, main courses, side dishes, and a fun dessert. Take your teddy bears on a picnic in the back yard, talk like pirates, or be pop stars with stylin’ shades. Each menu is completely customizable; you can begin preparation the night before, or you can add in shortcuts that work for your family. Crafts, games, and sometimes, special dinner get-ups round out a night of giggling to kick off the weekend.

The Busy People’s Fast and Frugal Cookbook

Thanks to Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers, I was able to review the new cookbook The Busy People’s Fast and Frugal Cookbook By Dawn Hall. It says that it has “perfect recipes for any cook with little time and even less money.”

I selected this book because I want to learn how to cook better meals that don’t take hours to prepare and cook. I’m too busy for that! Since this cookbook has meals that are all cooked in 30 minutes or less I thought it would be a great tool to help simplify mealtimes.

As soon as the cookbook arrived, I browsed through it and was really quite surprised by how many great recipes were included.
