Bon Appetit, Y’all: Recipes and Stories from Three Generations of Southern Cooking
Although Willis has trained in France’s finest kitchens, her heart dwells nostalgically in her deep roots in America’s South. Her grandmother and mother, both adventuresome cooks, were skilled at whipping up southern classic dishes as well as reproducing dishes shown each week on Julia Child’s television series. The Steamy Kitchen Cookbook
I was lucky enough to see an advance copy of Jaden Hair’s Steamy Kitchen Cookbook and it is spectacular. Beautiful photography (Jaden herself shot the food…and then served the dishes to her family, so this is not fake, styled food) and exciting layout make this a coffee-table worthy book…but be sure to take it into the kitchen and use it for the terrific recipes. Jaden is a wonderful writer and hilariously irreverent, so having this book as your kitchen companion will make dinner prep a lot more fun. You may know Jaden from her wildly popular food blog or her newspaper column in The Tampa Trib or her TV appearances…this book brings it all together, PLUS. This is her first cookbook, but I’ll bet it won’t be her last. She’s on her way to stardom…discover her NOW and enjoy the fun of making delish Asian food easily. Freshman in the Kitchen: From Clueless Cook to Creative Chef
The best compliment once could receive with this cookbook, ostensibly written for novice cooks, was one I received the other day, after encouraging an elderly friend to buy the book. She bought it for her granddaughter, but decided to try it out first. The comments/compliments focused on the easiness of the recipes, the great food produced, and the attractive and easy to use format. My friend had to buy another copy for herself because she wanted a copy too! I agree on all counts – the book flows easily, the text is amusing and easy to follow, the food is delicious, and Max and Eli really like food and try to impart that to the reader. I have tried three recipes already, and even for a seasoned cook, the recipes are spot-on. This cookbook ios not your typical “novice cook” book, but one that appeals to any age, any background and level of cook, and some of the food stories are very funny. Highly recommended!

The Busy People’s Fast and Frugal Cookbook
Thanks to Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers, I was able to review the new cookbook The Busy People’s Fast and Frugal Cookbook By Dawn Hall. It says that it has “perfect recipes for any cook with little time and even less money.”
I selected this book because I want to learn how to cook better meals that don’t take hours to prepare and cook. I’m too busy for that! Since this cookbook has meals that are all cooked in 30 minutes or less I thought it would be a great tool to help simplify mealtimes.
As soon as the cookbook arrived, I browsed through it and was really quite surprised by how many great recipes were included.
