Yep. I made this cake many months ago. I’ve been saving the pictures in hopes that I would have some miraculous dream that would magically make me remember everything I did when I made this. But alas, no such thing has happened and so this recipe has been lost and goes down in history as the tastiest cake I ever made that I can’t remember. :-p
Agghh!
Don’t be like me. Make sure that you keep notes when in the kitchen. It’s always fun to make changes to a recipe and make it your own. I remembered to do that with my 4 Layer Chocolate Dappled Pumpkin Cake, but not with this one. It was so good too. I cheated and used an orange boxed cake mix, but then I filled it with a mascarpone filling and some blackberry jam with chopped chocolate and a ganache topping, but I didn’t take any notes. Waahh. :(
Learn a lesson from me, for I shall never taste the wonderfulness of this treat again, I can only relish in the photos.
*sigh*

For what it's worth Amanda…it does look delicious!!!
Sad for the recipe, the cake looks delicious!! I have a notebook in the kitchen for jotting such things down. :D
It really does look delicious!
I came across your site looking for a scrumptious photo of Julia's Gateau a L'Orange. Great photos, and a delightful blog. I'll be looking forward to visiting.
Oh, no. It looks delicious!
It's a pity ! I'm like you !!
It does look good. Perhaps one day you will remember where the recipe is!!
Debbie, jill, pink – thanks!!
Bento – smart, i keep one in there too now! ;)
kalliope – glad you found me, hope to hear from you often! :)
natalia – oh no, don't be like me! LOL get a notepad ;)
Marie – oh I know where the recipe is, it's in my head :( but I can't get it out!
Sorry for your loss, but this is too funny, Amanda. Only because it hits home all too well. I now take copious notes on every little thing I make and this post is a great reminder to do so.
Cake looks great, by the way! ;)
LOL Katrina. The first step in mourning is admitting that your loved one is gone LMAO
I agree, copious notes now!!
You just wanted to get our mouths watering for something we can't bake! LOL :)
I know, I'm totally evil LOL!
Hey….pretty close to a recipe…you've listed the main components! And man, does this look fabulous!! YUM :D
I've done that before too! I try to make it a point now to take notes as I go…no matter what…and then if it ends up sucking, I just delete them! :)

I enjoy your site very much. The cake looks wonderful. From what I've seen on your site, I have no doubt that you will be able to re-create this delicious looking cake. You are very creative!
OH my goodness! And it looks so good!! You have to remember it and then send me a sample.
aww…. i hope you find the recipe and share it when u do!
I am pretty bad about taking notes in the kitchen and measuring. It makes recreating things interesting to say the least :) But I'm sure you can recreate this through a little trial and error, plus think of all the tasty mistakes along the way…
oh love the new site layout your a pro and I have an award for you on my blog no rules lol Rebecca
Sad about your cake recipe 'cause it looks like a good one! In fact, I'm amazed someone hasn't commented and said they knew the recipe. Well- it may happen yet.
This cake looks wonderful – mascapone cheese and jam sounds so good. Oh well about the notes…we all do it from time to time.
Well, that's not right! Teasing us like that! It really looks fabulous especially the filling which is screaming my name! YUM! By the sound of it I could (easily) eat that straight out of the bowl!

girlichef – thanks! It was sooo good – sigh
tastyeatsathome – yep i take notes all the time now!
Anonymous said – thanks so much for your nice comment!!
Felicia, Tia – thank you!
Patricia – good point ;)
Chow and Chatter – thanks! I am liking the new look for now, we'll see how long that lasts LOL
Barbara – well no one could comment and say they knew the recipe because it was a total experiment. I used Dorie's Tiramisu cake as a launching point :)
Fresh Local and Best, Ingrid – thanks ladies!
Looks like a chocolate cake from a Martha Stewart Cookbook. Only instead a fruit and cream filling it alternated cream, Choc Mousse and Pistachio Layers for filling. I bet you could adapt that recipe with your fillings. Martha's version is awsome. I dream about it!
