I saw this old fashioned recipe for coffee mousse on Annie’s Recipes so I decided to enter it into the Cooking With Alicia & Annie blog event. This has a very light texture and kept well in the refrigerator for several days. If you want a light dessert with a hint of coffee flavor you may want to try this!
Coffee Mousse
1 tbsp unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup strong coffee
3 egg whites
1/2 cup whipping cream
Mix unflavored gelatin and sugar together in top of double boiler. Add yolks, milk, and coffee. Cook over water until thickened. Remove and cool thoroughly.
Beat cream in small bowl at medium speed until stiff (1-4 minutes depending on thickness of cream). Add coffee mixture.
Beat white in large mixer bowl at medium-high speed for 4 minutes or until peak forms. Add cream-coffee mixture. Mix at low speed for 1 minute. Pour into molds or serving dish, Chill. Serve with cream.
