Well, this week’s Tuesdays With Dorie was Linzer Sables, selected by noskos of Living the Life. These were a failure for me, but not because of the recipe itself, it was my fault. I rolled them too thin and ended up with most of the batch so hard you could kill a squirrel at 50 yards. *sigh* I see by looking at the TWD blogroll that many TWDers were successful with these, they look great!
Soooo, I did manage to salvage the last batch, even though they were still rolled out too thin, I took them out 5 minutes early and sprinkled them with powdered sugar. It’s a bummer, I was looking forward to these, but I won’t make them again. Too much trouble, the dough hda to be constantly refrigerated, couldn’t even move the cut cookies from the wax paper to the cookie sheet to bake them until after I chilled them again.
Oh well, they can’t all be perfect!
Stay tuned though, I have some fabulous results for several other things I’ve been cooking up. Just haven’t had time to post them yet! ;-)

Sorry about your troubles, the cookie IS delicious.
I agree with the constant chilling, but it worked for me because I was making them right in the middle of a couple other things and was plenty busy while they chilled. The freezer worked great to just chill them up quickly!
We all have to have a “fail” now and then. I certainly had my share! lol!
Better luck next week!
Ahhhhh! A flying killer sablé! LOL
You crack me up Amanda!
Thank goodness you were able to save some… as they are pretty good looking, and I’m sure just as tasty!
I’m sorry, I laughed so hard I snorted b/c when I saw FAIL all I could think of was all those goofy Internet nerd pictures….and to see FAIL over cookies was so out of place!
I’m sure I would have failed too.
At least you tried:) I do like the dusting of powdered sugar!
SAD. I burned the first pan of mine on accident.
I guess my luck wasn’t bad since its COLD in my house. lol. At least I always feel cold! Sorry it didn’t work out!
Sorry these didn’t turn out. (The FAIL sign sorta gave that one away – LOL!) But at least you have a weapon. I rolled mine too thick and it stuck all over the place.
This certainly looks like it would have been a finicky cookie with all the chilly , I don’t think I would have even tried so good for you for trying!
I’ve had quite a few “fails” myself, but don’t worry, the ol’ baking mojo always comes back!
awww….sorry these were a fail for you. They still look nice with the powdered sugar on them. Can’t wait to see what else you are cooking up!
You are too funny- these leftover cookies look good to me! What a save…where is the coffee?
I once made the most beautfil jam filled butter cookies that could not even be bitten into because they were so hard!!!!! Welcome to the club!!!! LOL…..
Sorry to hear these didn’t work out for you. They look pretty anyway! I put mine in the freezer for an hour before cutting them out. (I didn’t want to wait the 2 hours or more in the fridge.) This seemed to work. They were even a little too hard to cut at first. I liked them a lot.
Ahh, chalk one up to experience is what I always say! ;)
like this for afternoon tea. yum!!
Too bad they didn’t work out for you!
Amanda I made a second batch of Bunny’s Italian cookies last night and I had to freeze some of them- they are going so fast! I think these cookies will be something I make all year long with different non Christmas sprinkles
