I also read a post about using pumpkin instead of black beans so I tried it. Those were gross. LOL! Try it yourself, many people have liked them, but I won’t ever make them again. Here’s the pumpkin ones:
Black Bean Brownies
1 box brownie mix, any kind
1 14-oz can black beans
Drain and rinse the black beans. Return beans to can and fill to top with water. Blend the black beans until completely smooth. You may see tiny black flecks, but that’s ok. Mix the blended beans with the brownie mix and bake according to directions on box.
That’s it. Good luck ;-)

I’m glad you weren’t out a lot of money with the brownies, at least they were ok. I (for some reason) can’t wrap my mind around pumpkin and chocolate. I see lots of recipes for that combination but…I don’t know…
Wow, now that is an interesting combo! Too bad they didn’t knock your sock off as that would have made them even more interesting.
Hmm…I think I’ll stick to my artery clogging recipe instead! Mind you, they are a once in a blue moon treat so I don’t suppose it matters too awfully much that they clog arteries!
Oh, girl, you have more nerve than I would trying these! Did you tell your kids that there were black beans in the brownies before they tried them? My kids would think that I’m nuts for thinking that they would eat them if I told them beforehand!
I remember that I made some sort of bean cake years ago while low carbing. It was edible but definitely not cake! ROFL!!
No THANKS.
I think it’s cheaper to use the egg and oil called for in the recipe, anyway!
I’ll go make myself some REAL brownies now…. ;)
bunny – pumpkin and chocolate – this was an awesome combination with the TWD Pumpkin Muffins! With the brownie recipe… not so much.
Bridgett – i read about these on several blogs. Most people seemed to like them, not me. I would describe them as “edible”, but that’s about it.
marie – Honey I’m with you. Pass me some artery hardener!
Tami – the only person who actually knew they had black beans was my FIL. I never even told anyone. Like I said, everyone tried them, said they were good, but usually they keep going back… not this time LOL
Barb – tell me when you make them, I’m coming to your house LMAO
That’s an interesting combo…
I’ve seen this, and wondered if I should try them. Thank-you for doing it for me. Now I know–don’t ever make black bean brownies!
It’s too bad they weren’t really tasty.
I have something waiting for you on my blog.
